The Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) are Geneva's university hospitals and a national reference centre. Depression care is organised through the Mood & Anxiety Unit (Unité Humeur & Anxiété, UHA) of the psychiatric specialties service, which treats unipolar depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders with intensive multidisciplinary follow-up, pharmacological optimisation, individual psychotherapy, psychoeducation and adjuncts such as light therapy and mindfulness-based approaches. HUG's own magazine reports that esketamine nasal spray has been used in its mood disorders unit under close medical supervision for patients not helped by standard treatments.
