Common questions

What does esketamine treatment cost and what is included?

A depression first consultation costs EUR 400 (40 min) covering diagnosis confirmation and therapy education; each supervised esketamine/Spravato session (120 min) costs EUR 150-250. The practice notes the overall costs of esketamine treatment are generally manageable and offers advance advice. Written reports are EUR 50 each in addition.

How does reimbursement work as a Wahlarzt patient?

The practice has no direct billing contract with public insurers: you pay on site (cash, debit or credit card) and can submit the invoice to your insurer for partial reimbursement at the insurer's rates. For OGK, SVS and BVAEB patients the practice can submit electronically (WAHonline). Supplementary private insurance with a private-doctor option usually covers most or all remaining costs. Because Spravato is expensive, a prescription approval is usually required - the practice handles the indication and application. Telemedicine costs are currently reimbursed as usual.

How do I start?

Book online via the Latido booking page (choose first examination for new patients), or contact the practice by phone (+43 664 4628495, weekdays from 12:00), email, SMS or messenger. From 01.07.2026 Austrian law requires presenting your eCard in person at the terminal (exceptions: telemedicine, purely private/foreign insurance). Cancellations should be made 48 hours ahead.

How does the esketamine protocol run?

Induction is 8 treatments within 4 weeks, with evaluation in week 4; maintenance is 2-4 treatments per 4 weeks; total duration with positive response is at least 6-9 months. Single sessions last about 1.5-2 hours. Do not eat for 2 hours or drink for 30 minutes beforehand; do not drive afterwards - the practice advises arranging a pick-up. A companion may join, and patients already stabilised on Spravato in hospital can transfer without necessarily needing a new first examination.

What if I do not want medication?

The practice offers non-drug biological options for depression - tDCS (from EUR 22.50 per treatment) and TMS/iTBS (from EUR 120 per session) - as well as psychotherapy, presented as real options for people who do not wish to take medication or have not responded to it.

Looking at alternatives? In Austria, esketamine (Spravato) is also initiated and administered in hospital psychiatric settings, and inpatient treatment in public or private psychiatric departments is an established route for severe depression alongside office-based private care.
