About this provider
Axonklinikken, founded in 2018, is a Norwegian clinic for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy with locations in Oslo (Bogstadveien 11) and Trondheim (Prinsens gate 39), treating severe depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, chronic headache and chronic pain. Each treatment combines ketamine with about 40 minutes of psychotherapy from a fixed therapist, with a doctor always present at the clinic; programmes of four to six sessions include preparatory therapy, an evaluation three weeks after the last session, and follow-up calls at 3, 6 and 12 months. The clinic reports internal quality data of 73% helped with depression and 84% improvement in PTSD. Medical leads include Dr. Lowan Stewart, who worked with Sykehuset Ostfold on treatment-resistant depression methods. No referral is needed.

Common questions
What does treatment cost and what is included?
The clinic's FAQ states most patients are recommended a treatment programme costing about NOK 35,000-50,000, running 4-6 weeks with a fixed therapist, 4-6 ketamine treatments with integrated talk therapy, preparatory session, evaluation and long-term follow-up at 3, 6 and 12 months. Extra talk-therapy sessions cost NOK 2,100 each.
Does insurance or the public system cover it?
The clinic states treatment insurance can cover the talk-therapy component: private health insurance usually covers up to 10 psychologist consultations, with insurers such as Storebrand, Tryg, If, Gjensidige, Sparebanken 1 and Vertikal named; patients should confirm with their insurer. Separately, the clinic reports that Norwegian hospitals have now approved medication-assisted (ketamine) therapy for severe depression - a decision it calls historic, meaning the treatment is officially recognised and may over time become part of the national health service.
How do I start?
No referral is needed. You can book a free, non-binding 15-minute phone call or a free clinic visit, then a startup consultation (NOK 2,900) with a specialist doctor; booking is online, and waiting times are short.
