Liminal Minds is a private clinic in the Lisbon area (Miraflores, Algés) offering psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychedelic-assisted treatment, registered with the Portuguese health regulator ERS. Its psychedelic programme has two modalities: Antidepressant Infusion Therapy, a medically focused intravenous protocol for rapid symptom relief in resistant depression, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), which combines dosing sessions with preparation and integration psychotherapy over a course of typically one to three months. Dosing takes place at partner São João de Deus facilities in Carnaxide and Alvalade under medical supervision. How much does treatment cost and what is included?
The clinic does not publish treatment prices online; fees are discussed directly when booking. A 10-15 minute introductory phone call with the clinical director, Dr. João Costa Ribeiro, is free of charge. Under the KAP cancellation policy, appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice are subject to a fee of 50% of the price of the scheduled consultation or treatment, with exceptions possible for documented emergencies.
Is treatment covered by insurance or public services?
Liminal Minds is a private clinic registered with the Portuguese Health Regulatory Authority (ERS registration E179263, licence 26275); patients book and arrange care directly with the clinic. For infusion or KAP treatment, patients are asked to keep their current psychiatric or psychological follow-up, and the clinic coordinates with the patient's own psychiatrist or therapist throughout.
How do I start, and do I need a referral?

How does a course of treatment flow?
KAP starts with a medical and psychiatric pre-treatment evaluation, followed by at least 2 preparation sessions (optional mindfulness and nutrition modules), then typically 4 dosing sessions alternating with 4 integration sessions, ending with a reassessment consultation; the full course usually takes 1-3 months. During dosing sessions the medication is administered intramuscularly or intravenously under medical supervision, with a therapist present throughout and sensory supports such as music or eye masks. Can I continue my current medication and psychotherapy?
Yes, in most cases the treatment is compatible with usual psychiatric medication, and keeping a current antidepressant may even enhance the initial therapeutic effect; benzodiazepines and lamotrigine may require adjustment, decided with the psychiatrist. Continuing an existing psychotherapy is recommended, and the clinic maintains contact with the patient's therapist with authorisation. Alcohol and non-prescribed psychoactive substances should be avoided for 48 hours before and after each dosing session.
