About this provider

Altrecht offers esketamine nasal spray treatment for people with persistent (treatment-resistant) severe depression for whom multiple previous treatments had insufficient effect. After referral, an intake is planned to discuss the nature of the complaints and previous treatments; sometimes another treatment is advised before esketamine can be started. The treatment is delivered from outpatient clinic Focaal Utrecht at Nieuwe Houtenseweg 12 in the Lunetten area of Utrecht. After each administration patients are observed for 1.5 hours to monitor side effects such as dissociation and raised blood pressure. During the first four weeks patients come twice a week; the schedule thereafter depends on the observed effect. In about half of clients a clear reduction of depressive symptoms is seen after four weeks.

Do I need a referral?

Yes. After referral an intake is planned to discuss your complaints and which previous treatments you have received. It is possible that another treatment is advised first before esketamine can be started.
