Common questions

How much does ketamine treatment cost and what is included?

The KETAMINE-DEPRESSION protocol costs 15,660 PLN and includes 12 IV ketamine infusions and 12 psychedelic integration sessions, payable in 2 installments (English-language version 16,000 PLN). Qualification visits are paid separately: 400-600 PLN for the psychiatric and 200-300 PLN for the psychological qualification. A combined protocol of 20 TMS sessions, 6 infusions and 6 integration sessions costs 13,000 PLN, and a maintenance infusion 1,200 PLN.

Is treatment reimbursed by NFZ?

Intranasal esketamine (Spravato) is registered for treatment-resistant depression and available under an NFZ drug programme at certain contracted facilities; at KeyClinic esketamine therapy is not reimbursed, and IV ketamine treatment is private.

How do I start treatment?

Treatment begins with a psychiatric qualification consultation, for which previous medical records should be brought. Qualification for ketamine requires blood tests (blood count, liver, kidney and thyroid panels, electrolytes, lipids, glucose, vitamins, ferritin, CRP), urinalysis and an ECG; results can be sent to zabiegi@keyclinic.pl. Appointments can be booked online, by phone or by email.

What does a ketamine session look like?

After a pre-infusion conversation with the doctor, an IV line is placed and vital signs are measured; the infusion lasts 40-50 minutes with pulse and saturation monitored continuously and blood pressure every 15 minutes. Patients lie down with an eye mask and headphones, and psychotherapeutic support for integration is provided after the infusion. Dissociative effects usually resolve within 80-90 minutes, after which the patient may leave, accompanied home and without driving until the next day.

What is the recommended course of treatment?

The optimal scheme is an induction phase of 6 infusions over 3 weeks followed by a maintenance phase of 6 further infusions over 12 weeks, with effects assessed after the first phase. Continuing prescribed oral medication and psychotherapy during ketamine treatment is recommended, and first visits are prepaid; visits cancelled less than 48 hours ahead are charged.

Looking at alternatives? In Poland, esketamine (Spravato) for treatment-resistant depression is reimbursed under the NFZ drug programme (B.147) at contracted hospital centres, so a public route exists alongside private clinics; IV ketamine remains a private, off-label treatment.
