About this provider

Clinica Synaptica describes itself as Barcelona's first mental-health centre specialising in psychedelic medicine, combining fast-acting psychedelic pharmacotherapy with psychotherapy. Based at Carrer Trafalgar 4 in central Barcelona, its psychiatrist-led team treats depression, anxiety disorders, existential anxiety, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, complicated and perinatal grief, chronic pain, suicidal ideation and substance-use disorders. Treatment follows four stages: clinical interview, preparation, medication sessions with integration psychotherapy, and follow-up or maintenance. Beyond clinical work, the clinic collaborates on research with universities, advises professionals setting up their own centres, and runs training programmes in ketamine- and psilocybin-assisted therapy, including a KAP training event in Barcelona in October 2026.

Common questions

What does treatment cost and what is included?

The clinic does not publish prices. Treatment is personalised after an initial clinical interview with the psychiatrist, and comprises preparation sessions, medication sessions with integration psychotherapy, and follow-up; additional psychotherapy or integration sessions can be added.

How do I start?

Contact the clinic by phone (+34 623 76 63 31), WhatsApp or email (info@clinicasynaptica.com) via the contact page. The process begins with a clinical interview with the clinic's psychiatrist to assess suitability and define the treatment plan.

How does a session work?

Sessions last about 2 to 2.5 hours: a brief pre-talk with the therapist, administration of the medication, roughly 40-60 minutes of acute effects with eye mask and specially selected music while the therapist stays present, then integration psychotherapy. Usually two sessions per week over several weeks.

Do I have to stop my current medication?

The clinic states that stopping antidepressants or other medication is generally not recommended; current medication is reviewed in depth by the psychiatrist during the initial interview.

Who is excluded from treatment?

Published exclusion criteria include being under 18, a history of psychosis, uncontrolled hypertension, elevated intracranial or intraocular pressure, recent heart attack or vascular disease, allergy to dissociative anaesthetics, pregnancy, liver impairment, and acute infection at the time of treatment.

Looking at alternatives? In Spain, esketamine nasal spray (Spravato) is authorised for treatment-resistant depression and is administered under medical supervision through hospital psychiatric services, which is a separate legal route from private clinics.
