About this provider

Centrum inovativní terapie in Brno, part of Klinika Podané ruce and formerly known as Nové Elysium, is an outpatient psychiatric and psychological centre for adults specialising in treatment-resistant depression, anxiety and stress-related disorders and specific forms of addiction. It was among the first centres in the Czech Republic to offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), using oral ketamine administration (typically around 1.0 mg/kg after medical consultation). The KAP pathway includes an online health questionnaire and phone interview, psychiatric, clinical-psychological and internal examinations, two preparatory sessions, a supervised three-hour ketamine session and three integration sessions, with optional follow-up integration groups. Standard psychiatric and psychological care is covered by six contracted Czech health insurers; KAP involves published self-pay fees or surcharges.

Common questions

Who is KAP suitable for, and who is excluded?

KAP at the centre is aimed at adults (18+) with severe depression not sufficiently helped by standard methods, PTSD, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and to support abstinence in previously diagnosed addiction. It is not provided to people with a history of psychotic illness, serious cardiovascular disease, raised intracranial or intraocular pressure, hyperthyroidism, phaeochromocytoma, severe liver damage, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding; active substance misuse can also be a reason for exclusion. The final decision rests with the physician after individual assessment.

What does the KAP process involve?

You start with an online health questionnaire, followed by a phone interview with a coordinator, then psychiatric, clinical-psychological and internal (physical) examinations. If suitable, two preparatory sessions follow, then the supervised ketamine session (about three hours, oral administration, usually around 1.0 mg/kg), and three integration sessions. Voluntary follow-up integration groups are available.

Is KAP covered by health insurance?

Clients of the centre's six contracted Czech insurers pay a published surcharge of 22,500 CZK for the KAP course (plus a 2,500 CZK internal examination) rather than the full self-pay price of 40,350 CZK. KAP in English is self-pay at EUR 2,080.

How is safety managed during sessions?

KAP always takes place under direct supervision of an experienced physician and therapist, with individually determined dosing and continuous monitoring of physical and psychological state throughout the session.
